Radsport von Hacht is a family-run bicycle shop in Hamburg. The company was founded in 1979 and has grown steadily ever since. Today, it employs a large and diverse team, each member of which brings their own cycling story and unique areas of expertise to the table.
Radsport von Hacht also has close ties to the STEVENS bicycle brand, which was founded in 1991 by the von Hacht brothers. To this day, the company continues to be run by the von Hacht family across generations.
With its wide range of products, Radsport von Hacht covers various applications—from everyday and e-bikes to sporty road and gravel bikes. The goal is to offer customized solutions without compromising on quality or aesthetics. For about a year now, Smartfit has been helping the team combine their many years of experience with precise measurement data to make their consultations even more accurate and customer-focused.

We spoke with Merle in an interview to find out what this looks like in practice and what added value the system brings to the customer consultation process.
How did you initially get into the topic of bike sizing and bike fitting?
Merle: The right frame size and riding position have always been key components of our consulting process—especially for high-end and performance bikes. That’s why we wanted to complement our team’s expertise with a precise measurement system and place even greater priority on the individual fit during the consultation. After all, the goal isn’t just for the bike to be appealing, but for it to be a long-term fit for the rider’s body, intended use, and personal needs.

Merle: We primarily integrate Smartfit directly into the sales process. However, the measurement service can also be booked as a separate service with us.
We use the Q2 system particularly often for road bikes and gravel bikes, as well as for high-end e-bikes and touring bikes. With the help of the measurement, we can confirm the frame size and fit and individually configure the desired riding position.
This allows us to discuss various options with our customers and find a solution that meets their personal needs.

Merle: Yes, definitely. Smartfit provides our entire team with an objective and consistent basis for our consultations. The measurement data helps us confirm our own assessments and experience and clearly explain the reasoning behind our recommendations to customers.
We particularly find the seating position configuration helpful. It allows us to clearly discuss individual needs and directly compare different options with one another. This not only makes the consultation process easier but also ensures greater confidence and consistency across the entire team.
