At Fahrrad Heilmann, bike fitting isn’t just an optional service – it’s an integral part of the consultation process. The local bike shop brings sales, workshop services, and bike fitting together in one seamless process: customers are measured first, and then matched with the right bike.
Since upgrading to the Smartfit Q4 system, bike fitting has become even more closely integrated into the day-to-day sales process – with clear benefits for both the team and their customers.

Manuel: Fahrrad Heilmann is a local bike shop offering workshop services, sales, and bike fitting. We have been around since 2016, and bike fitting has been an important part of our concept from the very beginning.
Our core pillars are sales, workshop services, and personalized consultation. We work a lot with appointments and deliberately take the time to focus on each customer. Every bike we sell includes a measurement and a bike fitting.

Manuel: We have actually been offering bike fitting since the shop was founded. In the beginning, we worked with video analysis and saddle pressure measurement. From a technical perspective, that worked well and provided a lot of valuable insights, but it was also very time-consuming.
Later, we added the Smartfit Q1 system. I compared the results with our previous system and found that the key values, such as saddle height and riding position length, matched very closely. The biggest difference was the speed. It saves working time, allows us to advise customers more professionally, and improves the entire sales process.

Manuel: A very significant one. If a bike is already set up to fit properly during the test ride, the customer feels more comfortable straight away. That significantly increases the chances of a successful sale.
The measurement process also builds trust. We don’t have to rely on gut feeling or say, “That should probably fit.” Instead, we can explain that we determined the right size based on actual measurements. That gives customers much more confidence.
That makes a real difference. Customers can see that we care about which size they ride. It’s not about simply selling any bike, but about finding the right one.

Manuel: Yes, absolutely. It makes the sales process much easier for our team. Our staff feel more confident because they have a clear and reliable basis for their recommendations.
The software is also helpful when dealing with online inquiries. If someone asks which size would be right for them, we can already give an initial recommendation based on their height and inseam. This makes the consultation process more professional and easier for customers to understand.
What would you say to other bike retailers who are still considering the Smartfit system?
Manuel: For me, Smartfit is the fastest system that still delivers very reliable results. Other systems can provide good data too, but they often require much more time and training. The key benefits for me are speed, ease of use, and greater confidence during the sales process. It saves working time, helps us advise customers more professionally, and improves the overall sales experience.
That’s why bike fitting is an essential part of every bike purchase for us.
