From Online to In-Store: How Radwelt Coesfeld Uses Smartfit Across the Customer Journey

At Radwelt Coesfeld, the goal is simple: to make every customer consultation clearer, more efficient, and more helpful. Head of Sales Ingo Gausling explains how Smartfit has become a valuable part of the sales conversation—and why the new Smartfit Q2 system stands out for its speed and precision.

Ingo, tell us a little about Radwelt Coesfeld. What sets your store apart?

Ingo: Radwelt Coesfeld is a brick-and-mortar bike shop with around 1,600 square metres of retail space, and we also run an online store. Service is a major part of what we do. We have a large TÜV-certified workshop led by qualified master technicians.

As Head of Sales, my responsibilities range from team management to shaping our overall sales strategy. That also includes optimising processes and introducing new systems such as Smartfit Q2.

Smartfit in Day-to-Day Sales

How did you first hear about Smartfit?

Ingo: Smartfit had been on my radar for quite some time. Our Managing Director, Christian Baumeister, had also been in touch with your team before. Heiner Böhle has been coaching us for more than ten years, and it was through him that I got to know Adrian, your Team Lead for In-Store Sales.

We met at Eurobike and continued the conversation over time. As those discussions developed, we eventually decided to introduce the system.

How are you currently using Smartfit, and how has it changed your sales process?

Ingo: We’ve been using Smartfit Q2 since November 2025. At the moment, we mainly use it to determine the right frame size and to set the saddle height with the Lasermeter.

Previously, we would start by discussing the customer’s needs, show them one or two suitable models, and then head straight out to our test track for a test ride.

The process is similar today, but with an added sizing step. Once we’ve identified the customer’s needs and selected a model, we take their measurements to determine the correct frame size. We then use the Lasermeter to adjust the bike to the individual rider before they take it out for a test ride. That’s the main change.

Sizing Where It Matters Most

What does the sizing process look like in your store, and when do you use the system?

Ingo: For customers looking for a trekking bike, we tend to offer sizing as needed. With gravel bikes and mountain bikes, it’s much more important because there are more specific frame geometries and parameters to consider. In those categories, sizing plays a key role for us.

We also use the software to explain the results visually. When two models are suitable, for example, we can show the customer the differences in geometry—such as whether they would sit in a more stretched-out or more upright position. That makes it much easier to explain the options, clarify their priorities, and involve them in the decision-making process.

During busy periods, we’re considering assigning one team member exclusively to sizing. We have several licences across different workstations, so the measurement data can be accessed and used later in the sales process. We expect this workflow to continue evolving as the season progresses.

Speed Meets Precision

What has your experience of working with the Q2 system been like?

Ingo: My biggest concern was that the system might be complicated and take too much time, but that hasn’t been the case at all. I’ve been particularly impressed by its speed and precision—and we’re not even using all of the available features yet.

Over the winter, we spent a lot of time testing the system internally, including with our own bikes. During the busy season, that would be more difficult, especially when there’s a high volume of customers.

It definitely makes our work easier. Of course, you still need a solid understanding of the different bike models, but the software provides a huge amount of support and takes much of the mental workload out of the process.
